Beautiful Environments make beautiful pictures no?

I wanted to share something, whenever i sell a photograph 10 trees are planted through my partnership with TREES FOR THE FUTURE . It's something i believe in, something we should, as people of this planet be part of. I wont preach because its not my place but without doubt a little can and does go a long way. Anyone can set up an account towards helping this environmental issue. Why not have look at the link and see what you think.

Hello Stranger

I have kept this blog of mine private for a long time and have recently decided to open to you, the public...ahem. Yes, this is a photography blog, aptly named " Affairs of the lens " ( my own personal love affair with an inanimate object ( not sure that is the right word, i am sure my camera breathes ) anyway, that this spectacular invention has this insane ability to capture and share everything i want it to ) but this blog, it is not just for photographers, but for the artist in us all, be it lying dormant, or wide awake. Unleash your inner artist and have a creative outlet that makes life that little more worth living. If you read backwards, you will indeed see I am in love with taking photographs....my stomach as i write has several butterflies doing their thing. I have been lucky enough to have been noticed, that people around the world have my images on their wall...All i hope is, that when they look at them, it brings them as much pleasure as it did me to take them.
Until next time.
Regards, LJA x
I while ago I made a giant collage of a selection of my photography.
I keep them in my house for inspiration, of the places I have been and those I have yet to go.
Pay a visit to my website to see them clearer.

Exhibition

I HAVE BEEN KINDLY INVITED TO EXHIBIT MY WORK AGAIN AT THE ARTS FESTIVAL, THEY WILL SHOWING FOR A MONTH I WAS ALSO INVITED TO GIVE A TALK ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHS WHICH WERE TAKEN IN NEW YORK,ROME,FLORENCE, BELGIUM,VIRGINIA, IRELAND AND WASHINGTON DC. IT WAS WONDERFUL AND WELL RECIEVED. LIFE IS GOOD..AND MY WORK IS GETTING GOOD RECOGNITION.
THEY ARE STILL FEATURED ON SET FOR CBS "BLUE BLOODS".
BE WELL. LJA X
I wrote this a while ago during another Exhibition. It stands true, but this time ... no one expected a theme. I was invited to show my work and that is what i did, I chose 19 that I felt strongly about, what has sold well over the years and that is all...

"Hello ... I had a Photography Exhibition fairly recently ..and although i am new to Blogspot i have blogged before-
I want to thank all those who supported me who may read this--although i am sure they can't keep up with all this!

So, Thank you very much indeed.

I am very pleased to share with you that all pieces from this exhibition found new homes.
The feeling this brings me is one i will never lose.

It was an interesting process putting together a selection of photographs, there are ' rules' to how one must match things or there MUST be an element running through them.
Although i do understand aestheticaly this may be important there is however an element of freedom being taken from it. Even in art one must obey the unwritten laws.

For instance, one could consider they are seeing certain ' themes' because they are black and white images, perhaps before colour film was invented themes ran far more smoothly.

I have the desire to make sense of a 'collection', looking at each individually, people do not always need things explained to them or else they would explode in a ball of confusion.
A story is interesting , but like with a song with no words, it will evoke enough emotion through the  silence of explanation.

Artistic expression on all levels of sub/consciousness is all that matters.

I am  really looking forward to future travels and further shows.

"

MY PHOTOGRAPHY & CBS STATION

Recently my photography was sourced and used on set for CBS hit drama " Blue Bloods " look out for it...
here is an example

LJA Photography - Affairs Of The Lens: RISE WITH THE BIRDS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubGBUUDWQ3g

I have been without my lenses for a few months as on a shoot they took a tumble and were sent ( the other side of the world it seems ) to be resurrected ! I collected them yesterday, however :)
In the meantime, I have been fiddling my thumbs, but the other day whilst driving I saw a beautiful site above me, so I grabbed a video camera and made a little shot a cpl minutes of film.

Hope you like it x

Saturday

Been a while

Well, yes it has...Never enough time to do what i would like to do, so i wont waste it now by stating the obvious! Love and love of photography has kept me growing. I have been away a bit this year, Italy and the USA again...I have been selling these photographs steadily which is a very good feeling as many of you will know. Thank you for all the emails .

Monday

POETRY INFUSION by me.

WAS IT ALWAYS THIS SIMPLE?

Now a light cover falls over my shoulders,
Invisible maybe but protecting and insulated,

I had it on before i left, like a grateful arc,
That keeps you dry when warm rain falls,

I stepped out briefly on my toes,
A single drop fell to my eye, I blinked and it was gone,

What you want is not always what you need.

I'm not even grazed nor bruised this time,
Instead, I watch from underneath, content.

I think I even saw a rainbow.

MEANT TO BE ?

It's late, i am meant to be asleep but , i'm not.

I'm meant to be more aren't I ?
meant to be yours , aren't I ?

If she wasn't there, is she?
whispering words in your ear, is she?

Then would we be, would we?
could we be, could we?

you see it's late, so late
and my soul has just risen

it talks to me of fate
of times i've forgiven, i think

it speaks of things i should forget
but my fucking soul has risen

but i should be grateful, i should
my silence is not golden
it doesn't bring me completion
it doesn't show me the way, to where?

It reminds me it's missing
it's friend, it's light, it's substance

Do you understand, do you?

WARS OF THE HEART

Eyes drawn down
like a fortress,
A thousand men in battalion ,
The fiercest tiger and savage beast,
such restraint i summon.

Ears punctured and burst
by their marches,
Roars and cries by
animals,they bleed,
All of my gusto i will me

Voice shrunken and still
It is lost now,
Long forgotten by times far from these

A woman of yours I once stood,
Now blind, deaf and dumb on her knees.

FINGER PLAY

I remember your taste
what did we say?
like a fruit of some sort i think

your fingers were eager
they polished and shone
when they'd finished

your arm long and brown
like a snake wove me round
i liked to not breathe
next to you

you laughed when it ended
your blue dreams all shaken
caught in my web
you caught yourself there

hair blended red black
skin melting to amber
pour it down on me
the small of my back

I wanted a man to light my cigarette
when it was over.
________________________

WOUNDS DEEPEN WITH TIME

I cannot scratch you from me
for it is i who would bleed

I cannot cover you with water
for it is i who would drown

I cannot rip at your eyes
for it is i who would be blinded

You took me when i was young
you took me when i was young

You cannot bind my wrists
for it is you who would not feel

You cannot cut my heart out
for it is yours that would cease to be

You cannot strip me from you
for it would be yourself you would tear

I took you when you were young
I took you when you were young

and here we stay
and here we stay

AN ODE TO HIM

He swept me up with cradled arm
the sun is cool against his touch

He sat me on a throne up high
the top of the mountain he kept me

The clouds billowed like my dress
and encircled me in soft harness

He brought me rain to quench my thirst
And flowers for my feet of white

He painted my toes with the redest rose
and took thorn to finger for my lips

He sang to me with soothing voice
like the lake before me still

He sat me on a throne up high
and there he keeps me.

New york was...

Breathtaking..

As were the Southern parts....

New York was .....

Beautifully breathtaking as was the Southern parts.

Sunflower Blankets Poetry

Warm Tuscan nights whisper,

Parisian cafes and Spanish eyes,

Blinking slowly over sunflower blankets

And ice cream moons,

Wise stone walls against my spine,

Warm marble floors under foot,

Strong coffee on the fire glows tangerine,

Trees of citrus grow sublime .

Perhaps French I'll resume

from the days of classrooms,

Italian from my grandmother,

Spanish from hers.

I loved the way she rolled'em.

Monday

New York , The Big Smoke, The delicious crunchy Green Apple

I am going to spend 5 days in NYC - 5 days of photography and cheesecake, yes, I can multi task !

I am getting butterflies thinking about it already, Now, even though I have more responsibilities than ever, I also have more freedom , strange how things pan out isn't it.
I've had the room to be able to grow and be confident enough to bloom with my own water and my own sun. What a feeling.

thank the lord! : P

An Ode to Him

I have always writing loved poetry, from time to time someone very special inspires me.

He swept me up with cradled arm

Monday

So, its been a little while since I have written anything here...
I have been busy creating for another photography exhibition i have been kindly invited to show.
I am going to use my Rediflex camera to capture some dream like moments around Ireland.
The weather has not been too..... permitting so far but now i must get the proverbial skates on.
I am fortunately spending Easter in New York again, I am very excited as I managed to get some interesting shots on the last
visit which i subsequently sold back to New yorkers ( patriotism goes a long way ) I just cannot wait to take photographs, especially of the people, much like London, the chocolate box leaves a wild and fruity taste in ones mouth, always leaving you licking your lips.

A further venture down to the South will follow, stopping off here and there en route. ( If you happen to like any of these images please visit my Etsy website which there is a link to on this blog) Thank you : B
